Wonders of Kenya – 10 Days/9 Nights






From the open plains of the Maasai Mara, the shimmery pink waters of Lake Nakuru, and the
open plains of Loita Hills, this safari provides the perfect opportunity to spot the Big 5 and to
capture some diverse scenery including experiencing a private secluded bush camp, where one
can enjoy the feeling of being at one with nature and a part of the local Maasai community.

Day 1:                                Nairobi

  • Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi, you will be transferred to your hotel. We will
    then proceed on a half-day tour of Nairobi including a visit to the giraffe centre and the Karen
    Blixen museum or just rest by the pool – getting ready for the expedition

Day 2:                                Lake Naivasha

  • Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to the floor of the Rift Valley with a brief stop at the Rift
    Valley viewpoint to take the most eye-catching view of the escarpment. Proceed to Lake Naivasha
    arriving Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon boat ride on Lake Naivasha that
    takes you to Crescent Island for a walking safari. This is one of the few places in the world where
    one can wander on foot amidst wild animals - there are no predators. Return to Lake Naivasha
    Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:                                Lake NAKURU National Park

  • After breakfast, we will head off for a full day to Lake Nakuru National Park, which is often
    referred to as the pink lake for its great masses of pink flamingos. We will enjoy a picnic lunch
    surrounded by the delights of the Park. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are
    approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the
    park including the introduced Rothschild's giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck,   
    lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game.

Days 4, 5 & 6                        Loita Plains

  • From Lake Naivaisha, we will drive across the Rift Valley via Narok the administrative centre for
    the District, arriving at a secluded tented bush camp in time for lunch. During our stay at this area,
    we will be hosted by a Maasai family and we will be taking walking safaris along the small river
    course and through the savanna for wildlife viewing with the Maasai as guides and interpreters of
    their lands this area.  You can take a refreshing dip during our visit to the hot springs and we will
    also visit a Maasai  family in their homes, known as the Manyattas. We will also visit the Ewaso
    Ngiro school, supported through a partnership between the Nairoshi Foundation and  Red Deer
    Lake School of Southern Alberta. Tours can also be arranged for those interested in visitingother
    Canadian independent development projects – water wells, LED light systems etc. During our stay
    at the camp we will be enjoying meals prepared by a professional chef, eating around the campfire
    under the starlit skies. Following dinner you will retire to the comfortably furnished tents and drift
    off to sleep listening to the sounds of the African night such as hyena, lions, zebras and the night
    birds, i.e the owls and nightjars.

Days 7, 8 & 9:                        Maasai Mara Game Reserve

  • We will bid goodbye to our Maasai friends and head for the Masaai Mara National Reserve which
  is famous for its great herds of wild game, arriving in time for lunch. For the next two days we
  will be doing morning, afternoon  or all day game drives.
  We can also arrange a hot air balloon ride (extra cost).

Day 10:                                Mara/Nairobi

  • After breakfast, we will head to Nairobi, stopping along the way for lunch, arriving late afternoon
 at the hotel to freshen up for your flight home.

Gorillas of Rwanda - 4 Days/3 Nights

VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK & KIGALI:

This safari addition captures the essence of Rwanda " a visit to the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes
National Park in northern Rwanda. Meeting these wild gorrilla’s in their natural habitat is a unique
experience everyone should have the privilege to experience. Participants on this trip will, as extra
options, also have the opportunity to visit the recently habituated Golden Monkeys or trek up to the
grave of Dian Fossey.

Day 1:

Arrive at Kigali International Airport where we will be met by our driver for the safari. Proceed north to
the foothills of the volcanoes that make up Volcanoes National Park. You have the choice of staying at
the moderately priced Gorillas nest or the Virunga Lodge which is a high quality eco lodge with
magnificent views over both the volcanoes and Lake Burera and Ruhondo. There is also the option of
staying at the exlusive Sabinyo Silverback lodge.
Traveling time from Kigali to Volcanoes area; 3-4 hours. 
Overnight Gorillas Nest or Virunga Lodge or
Sabinyo Silverback lodge half board.

Day 2:

Early breakfast before proceeding to the park head quarters where visitors assemble at 07.00 for a
briefing on how to “behave” while in the company of a gorilla group. We will meet our guide here and
proceed to the starting point of the trek to our allocated group of gorillas. The length of the trek varies
depending on where the gorillas are as well as what the weather conditions are.
It is important to bring good hiking boots, long trousers and gloves for protection against stinging
nettles, some snacks as well as sufficient amount of water as the rain forest gets hot and humid during
the day. You spend one hour with the gorillas which is a truly amazing experience " before trekking
back to the base and return to your lodge / hotel.

Day 3:

Optional second gorilla trek or a trek to the endangered Golden Monkeys. Alternatively a trek to the
grave of the legendary Dian Fossey can be chosen. All treks are at additional cost.
Return to Kigali in the afternoon. Overnight hotel in Kigali full board.

Day 4:

Time permitting visit to the genocide memorial and transfer to Kigali airport.




Victoria Falls – 4 Days/3 Nights


Livingston and Victoria Falls:

In 1855, a Scottish missionary, David Livingstone, is thought to have been the first European to see the
Falls. Although an extremely practical man, Livingstone was so moved by the beauty of the natural
spectacle that he enthusiastically uttered “On sights as beautiful as this, angels in their flight must have
gazed,” and promptly named them after his Queen.

The adventures that you can encounter on this additional expedition is limited only by your imagination
and time---

  • Take a ½ day elephant safari along the mighty Zambezi River.
  • Whitewater rafting below the falls
  • Take a riverboat Dinner Cruise
  • Fly in an ultra-light above the falls.
  • Or…. Jump off the historic rail-bridge, just below the falls, attached to a bunji cord!

Stay at the Five Star Victoria Falls safari Lodge or the Zambezi Sun (just a few minutes walk from the
falls!).
